Stone Bluff Farm is a small family farm located
on 25 acres in the rolling hills of eastern Missouri about
50 miles west of St. Louis. It has been in existence since
1988 when husband and wife John Macfadyen and Carol Hudgens
moved to this rural area to own and raise pleasure horses
for trail riding and to enjoy a relaxed country lifestyle.
We love the daily hands-on care of our animals and the peaceful
rural life on our farm. We have remained active in trail riding
over the years and still enjoy riding the trails around our
farm and at various county and state parks. Our farm currently
is home to 4 pleasure horses, 2 miniature horses, 1 miniature
donkey, numerous dogs and cats, and is now home to a small
but growing herd of huacaya alpacas.
We first learned about alpacas and the alpaca
industry in 2004 and began researching this interesting livestock
business and visiting a number of large and small farms. We
quickly fell in love with these beautiful, graceful and charming
animals and with the idea of owning and breeding them. We
also realized that the profit potential of this business,
as well as the tax benefits, make it a good investment
We started our alpaca farm and business in 2005
with the purchase of four females, each carefully selected
on the basis of their bloodlines, fleece characteristics,
and conformation. To view photos, lineage, and more information,
view our alpaca
herd. As our herd continues to grow, we base each new
breeding decision on the same high standards of exclusive,
highly sought bloodlines, desirable fleece characteristics
and conformation. To see the herdsires that we are using and
pending births, view our expecting
crias.

We are now experiencing the alpaca lifestyle
and it suits us very well, and we are looking forward to an
enjoyable, rewarding and profitable venture. We like having
visitors to our farm, so if you are in the area just give
us a call and come by and see for yourself how irresistible
these lovely animals are.
